Do you get the minimum 150 minutes (2.5 hours) of physical activity each week? The guidelines suggest that this should be moderate to vigorous intensity exercise, in bout of 10 minutes or more.
If you’re doing moderate intensity activity you can talk, but not sing
during the activity. When doing vigorous activity you will not be able to say more than a few words without pausing for a breath and you notice and increase in your heart rate!
If you’re finding it hard to get your daily exercise, here are some suggestions to get you started:
– Walk at your local mall
– Take the stairs whenever you have the opportunity
– Park farther away
– Go for a brisk walk during your lunch hour or after dinner
– Clean your home!
– Do stretches / dumbless while watching TV
or if you have access to the gym or an exercise machine, watch
your favourite show while exercising (you can even download your
favourite show on your phone!)
– Watch exercise videos on YouTube and try them out
