Summer Drinks – Healthier Options on the Menu

On hot summer days, it is hard to avoid the temptation of purchasing the cold drinks that are marketed to us at every coffee shop and fast food chain. Often, summer drinks are very high in sugar. Some drinks have more than 100 grams of sugar in one serving – compare this to what the World Health Organization (WHO) suggests, which is limiting intake of added sugar to less than 50 grams per day.

I have prepared an infographic that highlights the “healthier” choices” on the popular coffee shop / fast food menus. These are selected based on their sugar content and ingredients.

Please remember that purchasing a sugary drink every once in a while doesn’t harm a healthy person. You can enjoy these drinks as treats, but since they don’t provide significant nutrients and are very high in sugar, they should be consumed in moderation.
